Claude Usage Meter — Limits, Artifacts & Chat Backup Last updated: May 31, 2026

OVERVIEW

Claude Usage Meter is a browser extension that shows your Claude.ai usage limits and lets you export your chat history. This policy explains what data the extension accesses, what it does with that data, and what it does not do.

Short version: the extension reads data from your Claude.ai session to display it to you. Nothing is collected, stored externally, or shared with anyone.

  1. DATA WE ACCESS

Claude session data The extension reads your Claude.ai usage information (message counts, session limits, plan type) by calling Claude's own API endpoints using your existing browser session. This data is displayed to you in the extension popup and on the page. It is not stored beyond your current browser session and is never transmitted to any server we operate.

Cookies The extension reads cookies for the claude.ai domain solely to authenticate requests to Claude's usage API from the background service worker. These cookies are not read for any other purpose, are not stored by the extension, and are never transmitted anywhere other than back to claude.ai itself.

Conversation content When you use the export feature, the extension reads the content of your current Claude.ai conversation — including messages and artifacts — directly from the page. This content is assembled into a file and downloaded to your device. It is never sent to any server, never read by us, and never stored outside your browser.

Extension preferences The extension stores the following locally in your browser using the Chrome storage API:

None of this information is transmitted externally.
